What are the root words for Homeopathy...

Homoeo (similar)

Pathos (suffering, so pathology), which leads to the Underlying, fundamental principle Similar suffering: A science based on the Law of Similars: That which causes a symptom picture in a healthy person can cure that same picture in someone who is suffering from it.

This is one of the fundamental laws of nature which Hahnemann discovered while he was translating medical books to German.

The Organon of Medicine Aphorisms that the genuine practitioner of the medical art (a genuine homeopath) should abide with:

  1. The physician’s highest and only calling is to make the sick healthy, to cure, as it is called.
  2. The highest ideal of cure is the rapid, gentle and permanent restoration of health; that is, the lifting and annihilation of the disease in its entire extent in the shortest, most reliable, and least disadvantageous way, according to clearly realizable principles.
  3. To be a genuine practitioner of the medical art, a physician must:

    1. Clearly realize what is to be cured in diseases, that is, in each single case of disease (discernment of the disease, indicator),
    2. Clearly realize what is curative in medicines, that is, in each particular medicine (knowledge of medicinal powers),
    3. Be aware of how to adapt what is curative in medicines to what he has discerned to be undoubtedly diseased in the patient, according to clear principles.

–In this way, recovery must result.

The Six Principles of Homeopathy.....

1. The Curative Power of Life

The physician’s highest calling is to cure. All of life has the capacity to heal. Homeopathy accesses the healing powers of substances from the natural world and develops their use as curative medicines.

2. The Law of Similars

Matching the Medicine to the Patient: Each medicine has a unique and integrated symptom picture. Each patient brings a unique and integrated symptom picture that completely represents their disease state. Homeopathy matches the most similar medicine’s picture to that of the patient in order to act curatively.

3. Energy Medicine

All of life is energy. Homeopathy recognizes the vital force energy in every organism which keeps the organism functioning properly. If the vital force energy becomes out of balance, disease occurs. Homeopathy restores this balance to the vital force and so allows the organism to function properly again.

4. Removing Obstacles to Cure

Homeopathy recognizes that healing can be impeded by obstacles such as drugs, diet, stress, and other emotional or physical factors in the environment of the patient. The homeopathic practitioner acts in a non-judgmental and compassionate manner to identify these obstacles and bring them to the patient’s awareness.

5. Less is More

Homeopathy develops medicines which are reduced in molecular density and potentized energetically over an essentially unlimited range. These two processes occur together such that a more potent medicine is a more dilute medicine. Homeopathy uses the minimum dose needed to restore balance to the vital force.

6. Treating the Whole Person

Each person is a unique, complete and integrated whole. Homeopathy considers all levels of the person’s being (physical, emotional, mental and spiritual). It honors what is unique and characteristic about each person.
